Vidya Balan Took The Foul Language In Her Stride

Be ready to see a potty mouthed Vidya Balan in Vishal Bhardwaj production Ishqiya.

Balan says she was shy to rehearse her lines on the set because of the foul language in chaste eastern UP slang Hindi.

"I never rehearsed on the sets as I used to feel awkward. So I used to come prepared on the sets." Vidya says she made sure she gave a flawless delivery in one go and to do that she would blank out all others present on the set from her mind.

But Vidya justifies the use of such language due to the demand of the script and the place where the story is set.

Vidya plays Krishna, a woman from a village in eastern UP. She has been paired with Arshad Warsi. Her's is a deglam role in the film 'with many shades,' she says.

"As I am playing a rural girl, my look is very much deglamorized so that I look like my character Krishna. It is an interesting role with many shades," said Vidya.

Ishqiya is a tale of romance between individuals caught in a web of crime, suspense, passion and deceit. Directed by debutant Abhishek Chaubhey, the film also stars Naseeruddin Shah.

Vidya refutes rumors that parts of the film are being recanned. Last week there were reports that a focus audience who saw the film was very uncomfortable with the language.

"It was shown to a focus group recently. As usual, there was an equal number of women watching the film. These women were distinctly uncomfortable with the abusive language in the film," a source told TOI.
